Motorcycle accident at intersection leaves motorcyclist dead

During the warmer months of the year, more motorcyclists may be seen on Pennsylvania's roads. However, riding a motorcycle is not without its dangers, as one accident shows.

A lunchtime accident at an intersection in another Pennsylvania city left a motorcyclist dead. The motorcyclist was a 40-year-old man. He was taken from the scene of the accident with life-threatening injuries, and he died at an area hospital a short time later. The official cause of death was blunt force trauma, as the motorcyclist collided with another vehicle.

Authorities said that they were continuing to investigate them motorcycle accident and closed the intersection for several hours while they processed the scene. Police are asking the public to come forward with any additional information about the accident. The authorities have yet to announce the filing of any criminal charges or traffic citations, although they have described the incident as an accident.

Any motorcycle accident involving another vehicle should always be investigated carefully, particularly when the accident happens at an intersection. For example, motorcycle unawareness is a common problem among drivers in the Altoona area as well as throughout Pennsylvania.

Whether drivers are distracted by a cellphone or something else, or if they are just not trained to look out for smaller motorcycles, it is quite easy for these drivers to pull out in front of a motorcyclist while at an intersection, particularly when there are only stop signs and no lights.

Victims of motorcycle accidents may have legal options available to them for pursuing the compensation they need to maintain financial security during a difficult time. They can speak to an experienced legal professional about these options.
